My name is Zero, and this is what happens when curiosity consistently outpaces good judgment.

I live in northeastern Pennsylvania with my wife, who knew exactly what she was signing up for and married me anyway. She is either very patient or extremely good at tuning out the sound of a soldering iron at midnight. Possibly both.

By day I work in IT for the auto parts industry. I spent years on the retail and QA side of the same business, so I came into this role with opinions. The job is mostly consolidating systems that should have been replaced a decade ago and explaining to people why "it worked fine before" is not, in fact, a technical argument. I do not miss counting inventory. I do occasionally miss the simplicity.

In 2023 I had a heart attack. I'm fine. The doctors said to take it easy. I have chosen to interpret that loosely.

Outside of work I run a Meshtastic node on the NEPAMesh network, poke at RTL-SDRs, force Linux onto hardware that had absolutely no say in the matter, and write Python scripts that were supposed to be thirty lines and are now three hundred. I also travel now, which surprised me as much as anyone.

This blog has existed since 2015, with a seven-year gap in the middle I won't try to justify. Posts range from half-finished hardware projects to security rabbit holes to whatever I've gotten too deep into at 1am to walk away from. If any of that sounds familiar, you're in the right place.
